06 January 2020 11:59 PMRealization of foreign investment (PMA) and domestic investment (PMDN) in North Sumatra until the third quarter of 2019 reached Rp18.78 trillion.
"The realization of North Sumatra's investment continues to rise, although it is still around 60 percent of the target set by the Investment Coordinating Board which amounted to Rp33.91 trillion," said the Head of the North Sumatra One Stop Integrated Services Investment Office (DPMPTSP), Arif Tri Nugroho in Medan, Thursday.
Even though it is still 60 percent of the target, compared to the total investment of the same period in 2018 which amounted to Rp17.88 trillion, the realization of investment in the third quarter of 2019 has increased by around Rp850 billion.
He explained, of the total investment of North Sumatra which was Rp18.78 trillion, the largest was from PMDN or Rp14.29 trillion and PMA was Rp4.49 trillion.
"Hopefully the 2019 investment target of Rp33.91 trillion will be achieved," he said.
For this reason, investment realization in the fourth quarter of 2019 is expected to be far above the same period in 2018, which amounted to Rp6,945 trillion.
Especially in 2018, North Sumatra could reach an investment of Rp24.82 trillion or above which is targeted at Rp23.64 trillion.
Arif admitted, the ongoing global crisis did indeed reduce investment inflows.
Investors are still cautious about investing their capital, although North Sumatra is still considered to have great potential as a place of investment with one of the economic indicators that is still growing well.
