South Labuhanbatu Regency with its capital in Pinang City, South Labuhanbatu was newly expanded from Labuhanbatu Regency in accordance to the Law Number 22 Year 2008 on June 24, 2008 concerning the Establishment of South Labuhanbatu Regency, during the administration of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. South Labuhanbatu Regency is the gateway to North Sumatra province in terms of Riau province.
