Tapanuli Utara

North Tapanuli Regency is one of the regencies in North Sumatra with the capital of Tarutung. The amount of its population in 2019 recorded 301,789 people, with population density of 79.55 people/km2 and Bataknese is the most popular ethnic that followed by the majority people there.

During the Dutch East Indies era, North Tapanuli Regency was part of the Dairi and Toba Samosir Regency which was included in Tapanuli residency which led by a Dutch Resident based in Sibolga.
