Pancur Napitu was discovered in 1833 by a group of Batak people when they opened the Gunung Maria Mountain village in Hamlet I, Gunung Berkat Village, Bandar Pulau District, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra Province. Pancur Napitu means 7 springs that come out of the rock. Even though during the dry season the springs never dry and when during the rainy season the 7 springs keep producing clear water. The lucidity of the eyes exceeds the clarity of the glass, the intensity of the water and the dimensions of its clarity spoil the eyes for visitors and do not get bored to look at it repeatedly and chuckle in awe of the greatness of nature. It was at this location where the community first raised the red and white sangsaka on August 17, 1945 other than at the Bandar Pulo Struggle Monument.
